With Queen Glee Glennis 21.04.2012
Queen Glee of the Sunshine Sistas, Kawana Sunshine Coast, Qld, had much pleasure in welcoming her good friend of approximately seven years, Queen Wanda of the Liver Birds, Liverpool, UK. This was the first time they had met and got to spend a lovely four day visit together.
Friday started with a long walk through Mooloolaba to Underwater World, some shop browsing, coffeeing and lots of fun photos.
On Saturday a special welcome Red Hat lunch, held at Headland Park Golf Club Buderim was enjoyed by a number of Queens including Julie - Red n Purple Ragers, Nettie - Caboolture Shangrilars, Lynny - Foxy Ladies, Judy - Caloundra Purple Cherries, Robin - Scarlet Ladies of the Night, Susan - Gadabout Queens, Marlene - Gadabout Queens, Empress Red Pepper -The Glorious Red Peppers of Moreton, Empress Glo - Glow Hatters Mt. Archer.
The Queens were accompanied by their Vice Queens. Apologies came from Queens Carol of the Mulberry Tarts and Diana - Beautiful Bribie Bombshells who had other commitments for that date.
It was an extra lovely surprise for Q. Wanda to meet with Queen Maureen from Wales who was out here visiting her sister-in-law, Deputy Rosemarie of the Red ‘n’ Purple Ragers.
Q. Wanda gave a talk on how she became a Red Hatter and her Liverpool Liver Birds chapter, which the ladies found most interesting amongst a lot of laughs and chit-chat. A happy Red Hat time was had by all.
Q.M Julie put on a surprise happy hour in the late afternoon with yummy nibbles at her beautiful unit on the canal at Kawana Island, with her deputies and their princes attending. Queens Wanda and Maureen caught up with a lot of chatter about some future English and Welsh conventions etc. Sunday was a train trip to South Bank Brisbane where Q.Wanda met up with her cousin who she had not seen for over 30 years, together with her husband. Three other Red Hatters, who had met with Wanda in Liverpool, drove some distance to join in the gathering. Q Stef from Perth WA, Q Lin from Gold Coast and her deputy Jeanette, arrived dressed in their Red and Purple. They all took a ride on the City Cat down the river, walked through the markets and lunched at Shingle Inn, making it a busy and enjoyable day. Come Monday it was time to say goodbye and after breakfast by the beach it was on to the Airport where they saw Yvonne Cawley (Goolagong - Tennis Great). Wanda started up a conversation with her and had their photo taken together.
An infectious fun personality is Q. Wanda, who extends an invitation to all who visit Liverpool UK and are most welcome to contact her.
Q. Glee from the Sunshine Sistas thanks Q. Wanda for her most wonderful fun and happy company.
